Recently my family faced the sudden passing of my grandfather, may his soul rest in peace. This tragic event made me realise how short life truly is. I truly believe we should live every day like it’s our last. Obviously not doing extravagant things every single day, because you’ll end up with no money and starve to death. Rather, taking a chance and doing something new or putting yourself out there and conquering your fears.
I would really love to do many things in the future, pushing myself to the limit and putting myself out there. One being skydiving and another bungee jumping!! I have always wanted to do these things and I know many people who have done so.
There’s a Chinese proverb that states:
“He who deliberates fully before taking a step will spend his entire life on one leg.” ~Chinese Proverb
Sometimes we need to start embracing the fact that we need to be vulnerable. To blog you need to be able to express yourself, the real you, what’s hidden behind. Even if you think you’re not good enough, or that people won’t like what you produce, people may think you’re strange or laugh at your work. Sometimes we need to realise that we have to fight to overcome our fears, they won’t just go away magically.
The thing is, people will always have something to criticise. Regardless how well you’re doing in life, someone, somewhere will have a problem with it. With the person you’re involved with, with the status of your relationship, with how much or how little you earn – it will always bother someone or the other. Regardless of what you do, you can never impress everyone. So in these cases, you just have to live for yourself. If someone criticises you, you move forward, rather than backwards.
Once you become unhappy with where you are in life, you realise that the only way is forwards. You need to improve your life and the only way to do so is to put yourself out there. If you keep letting negativity and fear overpower you, you won’t really get anywhere in life. When you’re doing the same thing over and over, you begin to get bored. This is why pushing boundaries is important. Nothing will really happen by chance. You can’t really expect to win the lottery if you don’t buy the ticket, can you?
Every Individual has valid thoughts, views and opinions. Well, unless you’re Donald Trump. Sometimes we have strong thoughts and beliefs that our opinions and views are wrong or would be problematic for other people to hear. This is what causes a lot of people to hold back and keep themselves to themselves. For instance, as an English Literature student a lot of the times we are asked for our opinions on certain topics, but we’re rarely ever told that our opinions are absurd – unless you’re trying to relate Spongebob to Shakespeare. When you’re out in the real world, your opinion will matter, people will still question your opinion and views, but what they really expect is for you to be able to back yourself up. If you want to succeed, a lot of the times you need to be able to speak out and give yourself a voice. No idea has to be perfect straight away, things can be improved along the way, but everything needs to begin somewhere.
We’re too scared to fail in life that we never really try as hard as we should. Agreed sometimes you can try your best and still fail; that should never stop you from trying, though. If you know what you want in life, what matters most to you: it provides you with a better foundation to push yourself. If you don’t have this foundation it becomes more difficult to overcome your fears and you just feel like you’re never going to get anywhere in life.
To be brave is to let go of your fears. Not just to push them aside, but to battle them and conquer them. Nothing comes easy, though. We have to fight our hardest to get to where we want to in life. And along the way, you will be challenged with many obstacles and problems, but the ultimate key is to never give up. Once you let go of all that is holding you back, then and only then can you move forward and accomplish your goals.
There are people out there who have to fight their own families and fight against terror and war to get to where they want. To be free, you need to start somewhere. Just as to become a lawyer, you need to gain an education. To have more opportunities given to you, first you need to fight for them and put yourself out there. If it doesn’t challenge you, it won’t change you. And push harder than yesterday, if you want a new tomorrow.
So… here’s a little Corbin Bleu for you all…
Don’t ever give up on your hopes and dreams!!
